Performance and Application of TA10 Titanium Rods

1. Overview of Titanium Rods

Pure titanium rods and titanium alloy rods are new - type structural materials. Titanium has characteristics such as high melting point, low specific gravity, high specific strength, good toughness, anti - fatigue property, resistance to acid - base corrosion, low thermal conductivity, good tolerance to high and low temperatures, and low stress under rapid cooling and heating conditions. It is applied in high - tech fields such as aerospace and is constantly being promoted to industries such as chemical engineering, petroleum, electric power, seawater desalination, construction, and daily - use articles.

2. Commonly - used Grades of Titanium Rods

Chinese National Standard Grades: TA1, TA2, TA3, TA7, TA9, TA10, TA15, TA18, TC4, TC4ELI, TC6, TC9, TC10, TC11

American Standard Grades: GR1, GR2, GR3, GR5, GR7, GR12

3. Manufacturing Process of Titanium Rods

Hot forging - Hot rolling - Annealing and straightening - Turning (grinding) - Polishing - Squaring - Inspection - Packaging

4. Commonly - used Execution Standards of Titanium Rods

Chinese National Standards: GB/2965 - 2007, GB/T13810

American Standards: ASTM B348, ASTM F136, ASTM F67, AMS4928

5. Specifications of Titanium Rods

(Diameter * Length/mm): 6mm - 250mm * L

6. Supply States of Titanium Rods

Hot - worked state, annealed state

7. Reference Standards

1. GB 228 - Metallic Tensile Testing Method

2. GB/T 3620.1 - Grades and Chemical Compositions of Titanium and Titanium Alloys

3. GB/T3620.2 - Chemical Compositions and Allowable Deviations of Processed Products of Titanium and Titanium Alloys

4. GB 4698 - Chemical Analysis Methods of Titanium Sponge, Titanium and Titanium Alloys

8. Technical Requirements of Titanium Rods

1. The chemical composition of titanium and titanium alloy rods shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 3620.1. When repeated verification is required, the allowable deviations of the chemical composition shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 3620.2. TA10 (Ti - 0.3Mo - 0.8Ni)

2. The diameter or side length of hot - worked rods and their allowable deviations shall comply with the corresponding provisions.

3. The diameter allowable deviations of hot - worked rods after turning (grinding) and cold - rolled and cold - drawn rods shall comply with industry regulations.

4. The out - of - roundness of hot - worked rods after turning (grinding) shall not be greater than half of their dimensional tolerances.

9. Applications

Aerospace, aviation, navigation, ships, seawater desalination, petroleum, chemical engineering, mechanical equipment, nuclear - power equipment, electric - power equipment, automobile and motorcycle components, sports and leisure, medical components, iron and steel and metallurgy, high - tech fields. TA10 titanium rods (titanium - molybdenum - nickel alloy), with a nominal composition of Ti - 0.3Mo - 0.8Ni, is the Ti - 12 alloy developed by the United States in the mid - 1970s. It is a titanium alloy with anti - crevice - corrosion property. The tensile strength of TA10 titanium - molybdenum - nickel rods is higher than that of pure titanium TA2 and lower than that of TC4. The processing technology is basically the same as that of pure titanium. The tensile strength of this alloy at 300 degrees Celsius is twice that of pure titanium, and its anti - corrosion ability against reducing media is significantly improved. It does not have crevice corrosion in chlorides at 150 - 200 degrees Celsius.
